Do you ever just browse through your Pinterest feed and find all these morning routines and think to yourself “I wish I could follow one of these routines”. I used to do that too. Honestly, I still do.

When I was in college, I had kind of a routine, bit with quarantine my days are a mess. I was so unproductive that I started to feel useless. I decided that had to stop. In the beginning of this month I created a routine that I have been trying to follow.

If you are feeling unproductive like I was, I am giving you a few tips so you can create your own routine.

First Step – Make a list

This first step is pretty easy. You just have to write down everything you want to do daily. And I mean everything. I even have lunch and dinner in my routine.

Second Step – Organize and Prioritize

In here you are going to go through your list and organize it in the order you want to do it every day. And don’t forget to prioritize what needs to be prioritized.

Third Step – Time everything

After everything is organized, you need to set time for each activity. Like ten minutes to get ready or 20 for breakfast. This can take some thinking. You have to be realistic with this one. You have to set realistic times.

Fourth Step – Wake-up Time

One of the most important steps is to set a wake-up time. This will set your entire day and will make it easier. Figure out what time works for you and stick to it.

My wake-up time is 8am, which is hard sometimes, but I try my best. I really needed a wake-up schedule because some days I would wake up at 1pm and wasn’t feeling like I was enjoying the day as I should.

Fifth Step – Stick to the routine

This is the hardest part of it all. Give it a day or two to try out the routine and see what works. What doesn’t work take it out or change it to make it work.

After everything is set and done, you have to stick to the routine. After a few days of doing it, it just comes up to you naturally.

I have been following my routine since June 1st, and honestly some days are harder than the others to keep the routine. Sometimes it feels like everything is messing up your day and you can’t let that stop you.

Like I said in my post about writing a novel, I have a corkboard on my desk. In there I have my routine and some motivational quotes to keep me going. The motivational quotes can help you to keep your goals in mind.
